I have an idea...

Stop obfuscation, delay and dithering and get drilling for the fucking gas!!

If it flows, big, big win...

If it doesn't no worse off than now.

Risking a couple of million on the oil/gas exploration is probably a better bet than what they'll blow the money on otherwise.

I don't think the government is even risking any money. The exploration company is taking that risk.

You're right, they are. Personally I think it would actually be worth IOMG throwing some funding their way, while also smoothing the bureaucracy of it all.

But we'll no doubt spend the £5m on a new shed for the Peggy Boat or bespoke voice-activated Italian Coffee Machines for the new Liverpool Terminal.

You could say that about a lot of things.

If it was a serious proposition one of the real gas exploration companies would be all over it by now.

It's MUA for a start. They will get it designed and installed. Not like the glass is falling off the power station is it?

No but it's shattered the public finances !

I admit there's a chance I could be wrong.

But when the current set up isn't working, is it worth giving it a go?

I'm not suggesting throwing the entire reserves at the scheme, just a relatively small amount to get things moving.

Although truth be told, the quickest way to get things moving would be for DOI to stop dragging their feet.

What do you mean by real gas exploration companies?

Like a real one that actually does exploration. e.g.

  • Gazprom (OGZPY)
  • China National Petroleum.
  • Sinopec.
  • ExxonMobil (XOM)
  • BP (BP)
  • Chevron (CVX)
  • Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A)
  • Total Energies (TTE)

How do you think these big boys get to develop lesser well known pay-zones?

If these announced losses today are anything to go by then we need the wind farm up ASAP. Although MUA claim that with "adjustments" the loss is "only" £14M.

Another rise in charges coming in April though...

We're being slowly boiled alive like frogs. Ribbit ribbit croak!

Sorry. Sometimes if I didn't laugh, I'd do nothing but cry.

I have a few shares in small oil companies and the MO is that the small oil co does the initial drilling to prove that there is viable oil/ gas then sells the well to the big or bigger boys.

These little oil co's can trade at fractions of pence but if they hit oil it is party time 🙂

I assumed that what would happen on the Island?

That's a fair point. Are there small exploration companies with less of a record tha  crogga?

Do the large oil companies never dispatch smaller companies working infer their banner? Or are they always freelance?

My research tells me by exploration. Yes they subcontract some aspects like drilling but I reckon they do the exploration themselves as they don't want the risk of having to bid at auction for gas fields. They are known as E&P companies. Exploration and production.

Did Crogga even know if we had regulations?

I think Crogga are the usual snake oil salesman trying to eventually suckle at the govt teet, but if they have the financing let them carry out the exploration.

Future energy plans from Defa all make bleak reading. We've already budgeted £1 million last year for interconnector 'scoping'
