Jurby and surrounds were used as a gunnery training school during WW2 and after remember. Heard a few rumours of lots of 'leftovers' when they left that just got buried somewhere as it was a whole lot easier than transporting it back and re-inventory etc. It happens surprisingly regularly; like when the US left Afghanistan and left all that equipment. Or Landrovers etc just being dumped in the sea after deployment.

The Govt put a stop to them. They can't have private industry generating their own power and not paying the Govt to fix all the grid that they have embezzelled away.
