So, one geophysicist says it is possibly, another says it isn’t. Actually, the one on the Mannin line was backed up by a second expert on a previous interview on the Mannin line.
The truth is geothermal is 100% possible. It is a matter of cost versus reward.

Argh, again?

This is the problem with 'news' nowadays. I'm going to phone the Mannin line later and possibly post on some forums about the game changing radioactive cheese that has been discovered in the foxdale mines.  It can be fed to the Wallabies who will then be able to hop within a huge wheel attached to a dynamo. It's going to make us a world leader!

Courtenay and Prof Ashie are on board!

Agree, however, people are entitled to their views and opinions. Sadly these views and opinions are treated as messianic and there are people who start making demands, speeches and demented rants. This in turn starts to influence certain politicos, who then get carried away, in their quest to be world leaders in being the first to net zero.

Let’s see first whether they can make a success of a) obtaining the necessary permissions for construction of wind farms without an outbreak of nimbyism b) purchasing and installation of the wind turbine (without being overcharged and the project over running) and c) successful electricity generation from the wind turbines (there being enough wind). If there are errors, due to IOMG unholy rush to meet targets and deadlines, these projects could be more to add to the list of failures costing the taxpayers.

The man is a total twerp..he doesnt explain how he is going to drill down 100 of metres and by pumping a bit of tepid water around is going to generate 80mw of electricity. I can't believe the NPM is even giving him airtime.

IF YOU ARE READING THIS. PLEASE EXPLAIN YOURSELF.

Agree, but sadly the NPM (MR) gives all and sundry a platform, without really really interrogating those in power, and getting answers, instead of waffle and bullshit.

If this windmill farm is such a good idea let private enterprise set it up, and sell power to the MUA.

If other forms of private enterprise can generate electricity then let the MUA buy the energy.

The Isle of Man govt has demonstrated itself to be  incompetent with any capital "bright idea" project it is coerced into doing, and inevitably loses usually multi millions of tax payers money.

The govt is now pushing this project. Some charlatan will be on the take behind it, in my opinion.

No lessons are ever learnt. No consequences either.

Many more like, and many experts as well, on island and off island.

Tectonic plates apparently

Tectonic plate boundaries actually.  Note the 'Ring of Fire' round the edge of the entire Pacific.

And some 'hotspots' caused by magma plumes e.g. Hawaii which is pretty much in the middle of a plate.  The plate movement causes the chain of Islands.
