As the smart money is moving out of wind energy, the stupid money jumps in with both feet:

https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/orsted-cease-development-some-us-offshore-wind-projects-2023-10-31/

"The offshore wind industry has found itself in a perfect storm of rising inflation, interest rate hikes and supply chain delays, casting doubt on plans by U.S. President Joe Biden and several states to use offshore wind to replace fossil fuels in energy production to fight climate change."

And the ESG cobblers is at an end, smart money out, stupid money bailing out the smart money:

https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/blackrock-ceo-drops-esg-term-after-blowback

"On Sunday, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink revealed at the Aspen Ideas Festival that he had abandoned the term "ESG" (environment, social, and governance) because it has been highly politicized and even "weaponized," and he is "ashamed" to be part of the debate"

The proposed windfarm is not offshore. There are no plans to use offshore for the Isle of man

I read that yesterday too.   Although this is for offshore, which is way more expensive to build and maintain.  Plus part of the issue is finance and the associated interest.  We already have the money for this as part of that green bond, which to be fair was actually done at a very low interest rate.

Orsted are planning the island's first off-shore windfarm in the Irish Sea. Information about the Mooir Vannin windfarm has gone to every house on the island. Display at the Villa Marina on Saturday 25th November 2:30-7pm if you want to know more.

Yes. But its to feed the UK not us. Not really big news for the IOM other that a bit of money from potential seabed rental lost

It's just corporate propaganda.   I think that is even more unlikely to be completed than the onshore one the Govt are twatting about with.

On Manx Radio Mannin Line today a Mr Callister was talking about green energy, mentioning his support for onshore Wind Turbines above other options. A lady caller, concerned about Earystane, rang towards the end of the programme and challenged the gentleman for not mentioning he was involved with Colas and Auldyn Builders and was on the Govt Climate Committee. What a tangled web seems to be getting spun…….

To be fair she also accused him of being Alf Cannans brother in law which was blatantly untrue.

Half a million spent already investigating if suggested site is suitable.    By the time they have decided where to put it they will have spent so much money there won’t be enough left to build it.   Ahh well….

Having read public service pensions now need to be moved to General Revenue , this project t should be abandoned until the cash position stabilises. We cannot afford this right now, no matter what has been set aside for Daphne and her warm feelings ! There won't be many warm feelings when Government is bankrupt and UK step in !
