Thanks very much. The loans were illegal in my understanding, up until the point Government had to decide they weren't , another fait a complis . Your last line is what I feared.

The loans were legalised retrospectively.

The loans were never illegal. Bending the rules is not illegal. The regulations were improved after.

It was never illegal or even against financial regulations for a statutory board to borrow money.

One more thing. From the press statements it seems that Cannan is keen on Crogga drilling for gas.

How does that factor into the zero carbon equation?

If Crogga is successful, it exports gas to England where it is burnt in power stations to generate electricity that is exported via the interconnector back to the IoM.

Have I got that right?

Is the law different here in that respect?

First you are making allegations of criminality and now that the law here is somehow different.

I am not going to argue with you, but somehow Government ended up spending a shed load more money on the power station than was budgeted or approved at the outset, and as you say we are still paying for that when it is retired !

I always though that the law at the time of the offence was the law that is applied.

Another Govt shill industriously trying to scuff inconvenient history. You will find enlightenment here :-

DR? Heywood is a marine biologist, a fish DR ! Nothing to do with Biomed or genetics

No she's not.  Admittedly she probably knows more than most about the local marine environment and fish, owning and running a diving company, but she doesn't have any marine biology qualifications.

BSC Biochemistry

MSC Applied Parasitology and Medical Entomology

PHD Genetics

First two at Liverpool University, PHD at Imperial College London.

Evidently most posters would assume that she's a moron and these qualifications are easily gained.  She's a bit weird, but certainly isn't dumb.

Well, she's in the right job now for the Applied Parasitology bit....

Haven’t seen too many posters assuming that these qualifications are easily gained - those that did clearly have a pre-existing narrative, and don’t want anything to get in the way of it (or anyone to disagree, for that matter…).

Once again, why let those pesky facts get in the way of a good tale?

Nobody is saying she’s dumb at all. Just that she has no relevant qualifications to assume the role of a self proclaimed expert in relation to renewable energy and building a wind farm as she did on Manx Radio.

.

By that principle, geothermal makes even more sense as it works 100% of the time. No need for additional interconnect.

This only rings true if every turbine runs maintenance free no break downs, speedy repairs not on the cards if we do not posses infrastructure as in fuck off big crane and spares package. Oh and the wind actually blows not to little and not to much. Good luck with that crystal ball on the weather to say how many days will be just right for optimum generation

That is one of the reasons this wind farm is a bad idea. 20-30 smaller ones would be easier to transport, install, maintain, and less impact if one is down for maintenance.
Stick them on Jurby Airfield. Jobs a goodun!
