Seems like one of the horses down the Prom has hoofed it.

The lack of detail as to what happened or the cause of death is intriguing however.

If you read the thread on this subject on IOMNP Facebook, the poster asks for transparency, and what the horse died from? A IOMG inquiry? Expol? Cover up?

Not much. Just thought they might have reported it like they did with this one.

Possibly the fact that poor Albert had a stroke while pulling a tram was newsworthy and the circumstances of William's death were not.

Love the comments on the report.  It would be good to have an expert's view as to whether the trammers are indeed overworked.

Or perhaps an animal sadly died. Of natural causes. This is another hilarious thread.

Exactly.  These horses are hardly over worked.  They have regular open days where you can see them all, how they live, how they are cared for and ask questions regarding their work.

If there was no job for them, these breeds would die out, heavy breeds are already rare and endangered

No need to go overboard. Literally just confirmation of the cause would be good - transparency so we know these horses are actually being looked after.

The DOI subsidy for loss making railways has been slashed, so it's important to know they haven't reduced welfare standards.

No expert, but my gut feel is they are not overworked and are actually well looked after, even loved by the tram staff.  They are bred to work, their musculature needs that exercise.  They have a limited number to round trips before resting, and rest days,  I seem to recall.

Things do die, sadly, it is the way of things.

PS nice to see you posting again Jess

will the number of round trips increase as they have less distance to travel now ?
