No need to go overboard. Literally just confirmation of the cause would be good - transparency so we know these horses are actually being looked after

Ah - you’re concerned for the horses’ welfare.   In that case, why wait until one of them is reported as dying before asking some questions on MF?   Why not go and see them and find out in person?

Strange definition of "better things to do".

Visit some horses vs enter into long winded communication with civil servants.

No expert, but my gut feel is they are not overworked and are actually well looked after, even loved by the tram staff.  They are bred to work, their musculature needs that exercise.  They have a limited number to round trips before resting, and rest days,  I seem to recall.

Things do die, sadly, it is the way of things.

PS nice to see you posting again Jess

If truth be known they probably don't get enough exercise outside of their seasonal 'work'. Any animal but in particular large horses require daily exercise to keep muscle mass in good shape.

Presumably, because their workload will be measured by time or distance,  suppose.

if the horses got their union on the job it could be 10 trips a day full stop and nothing to do with distance travelled or time.
