MGP 2023

La Colombe

Recommended Posts

Our first time visitors loved it, and are already talking about coming back next year.

They came last Wednesday until this morning and saw loads of racing,Jurby day and had an absolute blast.

I don’t really understand all the moaning.  There was loads of action crammed into a few days despite the weather, and had they needed to they could have run today.

Maybe if some of the “don’t like change” brigade stop coming it will be good for the event and get some younger people over who might spend more.  There are plenty who tried to come and couldn’t get travel or accommodation.

People do love a moan!!!

Oof! 3 grand plus for flying a drone 200m away from the course.  It's like drone hysteria out there. Crazy.

it really is dumb cunt central sometimes

Maybe so: but how would you suggest deterring would-be drone pilots in future (bearing in mind that the drones are a safety risk - to helicopters when in the air; and potentially to bikes/riders if one were to crash on the course during a race)?

Including some of the competitors and their backers it would appear...

Well It’s true.  Not enough classics make it to the end to make it an interesting and worthwhile event.

Even Dunlop with all his support only finished one race.  The format is flawed unless the field is much bigger which isn’t feasible

big signs on the boat , big advert in the TT/MGP programmes ,  signs at all the campsites and eateries where practicable.  maybe even something printed on marshals bibs reminding people no drones or selfie sticks.

Fair enough - and what will you do when they fly them anyway, claiming there was no publicity?   Or not enough?  Or the wrong kind?  Or they didn’t see it?
