New Chief Officer at DEFA-another Kiwi escapes to IOM

"Mr Gallacher has held a number of senior executive roles within the New Zealand Government in areas like animal welfare, biosecurity, fisheries, food safety and forestry."

"Greg Campbell, Chief Executive of Greater Wellington, says Mr Gallacher brings extensive strategic leadership and commercial experience to the fold, having held important senior executive roles at the Ministry for Primary Industries, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development."

The c.v. seems to change a bit, depending on the circumstances.

Edited to add:

I should have checked the LinkedIn -

"Scott Gallacher
People Leader, Delivery Agent, Customer Champion, International Trade Arbitrator"

A degree in Law/History.

"Experience:

People Leader, Delivery Agent, Customer Champion, International Trade ArbitratorPeople Leader, Delivery Agent, Customer Champion, International Trade Arbitrator
    Freelanc Apr 2022 - Present · 1 yr 5 mos"

In other words, maybe a bit unemployed until the IoM gov. came along.

Just me being cynical.

Sounds like they don’t want to appoint from within as previously given all recent senior positions have gone to external candidates

With the previous one "...taking over from Ste Stanley who is now executive director of Urban Regeneration in the Cabinet Office."

This is a curious role? Doen't DOI/local authorities take the lead on this, with area plan managed by a different area of Cabinet Office? Or is it baby sitting MDC.

Well, we all know the words and phrases that must trip off the tongue to get a job at the top of the IoM gov. - commitment, stakeholder, leadership, to name but a small number. Probably the phrase  "delivery agent"  was what guaranteed him the job. But he is nowhere compared to the other recent gov. catch - how about "inductive lens" and " sensemaking pathways".

Expect to see those phrases in future Cabinet Office media statements - made by someone standing with a lectern in front and a national flag hanging limply behind.

You might have noticed that British politicians like to ape the style of USA presidents - so these days the Prime Minister is videoed standing outside 10 Downing Street, with a lectern in front and a flag behind.

RSN I expect our own Chief Minister to adopt the same style when making media statements, standing outside Tynwald. With the rain pissing down. Style is everything.

And don't complain about 3-letter acronyms.

Cabinet Office already have the full set of 'management-speak'.

What does this mean?

'The role of the Cabinet Office is extensive and far-reaching with its functions involving stakeholder delivery for both internal and external customers'.

No farming subsidies in New Zealand , the farmers have had to stand on their own 4 feet , it will be an interesting appointment  most Kiwi's in Agriculture  are very hard working , practical and relish change especially when they can see  new markets developing , not sure what he will make of the rest of his  team at St Johns  they don't seem to do anything for agriculture these days ,and unless its a family run farm no one seems to want to work in the industry anymore   watch this space !
