They were met by a crowd milling around wondering what the £13.50 admission charge included. Suffice to say, nobody was climbing the stairs. It does seem a bit steep by comparison And the examples you give seem to be from third party “ skip the line “ agencies who charge a premium. However, there should be a good visitor centre with plenty of info to understand the context, history and purpose of the wheel. Now that the Salmon Centre is open there's no need for a cafe, but yes, for £13.50 you'd expect some kind of educational exhibition type stuff. "Included in the admission fee (£13 I think) is access to walking trails to see parts of the former mine buildings and it is possible to take a short walk into one of the mine roadways close to the wheel.
