Max Power
Some friends were over for the MGP and visited the Laxey Wheel. They were met by a crowd milling around wondering what the £13.50 admission charge included. Suffice to say, nobody was climbing the stairs. I looked at the prices for 'similar attractions' some of which were a bit more expensive but are probably slightly better value for money? https://www.viator.com/tours/Paris/Guided-Eiffel-Tower-Tour-with-Summit-Access-Option/d479-47475P7 https://book.new-york-tickets.com/book/593/checkout/?date=2023-09-02&pax.adult=1&pax.child=0&pax.senior=0&time=12%3A30%3A00&tourId=724&variantId=724 https://www.tiqets.com/en/blackpool-attractions-c67591/tickets-for-blackpool-tower-eye-p977040/ Nice living in dreamland isn't it? It does seem a bit steep by comparison And the examples you give seem to be from third party “ skip the line “ agencies who charge a premium. Gladys
It costs to maintain it and if we want to keep it and view it, we should pay. However, there should be a good visitor centre with plenty of info to understand the context, history and purpose of the wheel. Haven't been for a while so there may be something like that there.

Banker
Could have got a visitor pass for £30 unlimited entry to all sites for £30, residents only £35 for year. Bargain prices also there’s a cafe across road open everyday Edited September 2, 2023 by Banker

Passing Time
Just now, Roxanne said: I haven't been for years either so I've no idea but on the olden days there was a cafe there and you had to pay admission to access it. Now that the Salmon Centre is open there's no need for a cafe, but yes, for £13.50 you'd expect some kind of educational exhibition type stuff. Doesn't the £13.50 also cover a trip up some of the tunnels/mines? Even so, it seems expensive for what it is. Not as expensive as this though.. From Trip Advisor.. Full Day tour Laxey and Northern plains with qualified Isle of Man Tour Guide Historical Tours from $450.11 per group (up to 4) I think that’s what you get paid for visiting Laxey and the northern plains 😂😂
Roxanne
Also from Trip advisor. "Included in the admission fee (£13 I think) is access to walking trails to see parts of the former mine buildings and it is possible to take a short walk into one of the mine roadways close to the wheel. An excellent place to spend a few hours" There seem to be an awful lot of good reviews.

This is the high water mark. This is where the hole in the wall was. This is where the mechanical digger was. Additional income from selling hand-made cups of Earl Grey. Discount for cash.

Gizo
1 hour ago, Gladys said: t costs to maintain it and if we want to keep it and view it, we should pay. when the govt under the guise of the mnh steal money from legacy donations which were specifically donated for the benefit of Colby and then utilised for programmes which the same govt aren’t prepared to dip in their pocket for really pisses me off. Fuck the Laxey wheel and all who sail on it. and then they do a half arse job on it, boils my piss even more.
Gizo
Sorry Gladys for quoting you. Not intentional. It’s the whole affair of mnh stealing that money pisses me off no end.
