The Daily Mail dropped her and her brand was so toxic by then that was the end of her career as a " journalist".

Not because she was 'toxic' (when has that ever bothered the Mail) but because she was costing them too much money.  As well as her wholly avoidable spat with Jack Monroe, according to Wiki:

[...] In December 2016, the Daily Mail and General Trust settled a libel case brought by the Mahmood family with £150,000 damages, plus legal costs, over two articles by Hopkins posted on the MailOnline website which claimed members of the Muslim family were extremists

[...] In November 2017, Hopkins' former employers Mail Online apologised and paid "substantial damages" to teacher Jackie Teale, after Hopkins falsely accused Teale of taking her class to a Donald Trump protest in Westminster.

Other cases include:

[...]  In October 2020, Hopkins issued an apology after she was sued by Finsbury Park Mosque for inaccurately linking it to a violent incident in May 2020

[...]  Hopkins was selected as a cast member of the Australian Big Brother VIP series in 2021. She was sacked on 18 July 2021 while in hotel quarantine in Sydney after posting on social media that she had deliberately breached COVID-19 health regulations.  [...] On 19 July, Hopkins was fined $A1,000 for not wearing a mask while in hotel quarantine. Her visa was also cancelled during the day, and she was deported from the country.

Though she did win one victory:

In May 2018, Hopkins won an IPSO case against the Daily Mirror for claiming that she had been detained in South Africa in February 2018 for taking ketamine. The Mirror updated the headline to say that she had been detained for spreading racial hatred, and included a correction in the article.

[which now is headed:

Katie Hopkins DETAINED in South Africa for 'spreading racial hatred' after taking ketamine while collapsed in the street
A previous version of this article suggested that Katie Hopkins was stopped from leaving South Africa because of the consumption of Ketamine. We are happy to clarify that Ms Hopkins was detained for spreading racial hatred, which took place after the Ketamine incident.]

Justice at last!!

The Labour Party doesn't really have to have be serious on anything until just before a General Election. It (any opposition really - but it's usually Labour) needs to question the Government's policy, get it's leadership in place and debate what it's policy should be. Admittedly, that seems to be the Conservatives approach when in Government.

Don't be too sure about that.

In the Uxbridge by-election the tory campaign centered around the upcoming ULEZ for London and thus Sadiq Khan was cast as the Labour villain-in-chief.

Despite the fact that ULEZ was decided on as very necessary by the then London Mayor Boris Johnson, that Transport Secretary Grant Schapps tasked Khan with implementing it, that hospital waiting lists are the longest ever (apparently due to the record number of migrants...!) and basically the country is coming apart at the seams still the terminally stupid voted in the tory.

Because, as we saw in the brexit referendum, readers of the Daily Mail, the Express, the Sun and the Telegraph actually believe the lies they are being fed by those totally unscrupulous rags. I notice that today it's all about Starmer and immigration. Braverman is quoted in the Express as describing Labour's plans as a "dirty deal" that would "hand Brussels the keys to our immigration system". It's all nonsense of course but the hard of thinking lap up every word. The fact that the current record number of migrants are down to tory so-called policies fail to get a mention...

It's one hell of a mountain to climb!

She had to pay Monroe £25000 in damages (I think) and all the legal costs that ran into six figures. She lost the family home to pay for it all.

Worse than that, she went into an Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA), which is effectively a form of bankruptcy, due to the debts.

It's odd how Kier Starmer and the Labour Party are now all of a sudding taking the immigration situation seriously

They always were, unlike the Tories who’ve been using it as a dog whistle for years.

People trafficking is evil. Labour are going to go after the people traffickers to stop it at source. Sensible, mature, grown up politics.

The Tories? That’s too sensible, they’re going to stick the trafficked in a derelict prison ship or send them to Rwanda, but do absolutely jack shit about the people doing the trafficking.

But when Mark Harper (now the transport secretary) was Immigration Minister he directly employed an illegal migrant as his cleaner. Apparently he didn’t know. Yeah right.

How many 10,000s have arrived by boat? How many 'traffickers' have been found.

People need to grow and face reality.

Fixed!

The spat with Monroe hit Hopkins in her own pocket. You know, where it hurts the most.

The irony being it was totally avoidable but for her own arrogance.

So she authored her own demise and is now reduced from spouting her poisonous opinions to a national audience to playing to little clubs in dreary backwaters...

You've gotta have a grudging admiration for her commitment to anti-wokeness that in the midst of a ket-induced gutter stupor she's still  able to stick it to the snowflakes.

Please keep up...  The PM has made it very clear that the waiting lists are due to strikes by Junior Doctors and Consultants.

That of course fails to address the rising waiting lists that pre-date the strikes and Covid -19 but were still happening under a Tory Government.

So it has been 2 days since Katie Hopkins was here and unless I missed it there are gangs of murder squads going round hunting down ethnic minorities and old people.

There are?  Where are they? ;)

It was originally inner London. Khan has extended it to Greater London which is a different ball game. I assume you know this and forgot to mention it?

Actually it didn't, despite what the press was claiming.  The shrewdest analysis I read on this was from Aditya Chakrabortty:

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/aug/03/uxbridge-brexit-tories-anti-green-labour-local

(Though you'll  notice that the Guardian applied its own spin, putting Brexit in the headline, where it's barely mentioned in the article).

Chakrabortty actually went round and spoke to Labour and Tory activists.  ULEZ was an issue but a lot of other things were more important.  In particular Labour HQ, certain they would win, effectively imposed their own candidate and campaign, while Tory HQ, certain they would lose, let the locals pick their own candidate and campaign.  And so they were able to portray Labour as a distant elite, uninterested in what locals cared about.  Expect to see a lot of this - if this works ten miles from Westminster, think how it will play in the rest of the country.

But of course saying that the ladies and gentlemen from Westminster don't know best is never going to go down well with the closely related ladies and gentlemen of the British media.  So ULEZ was blamed as it would tie in nicely with their anti-green agenda.

Nope.

Wrong again!
