Not sure it was an EV,  but the reports say the fire brigade was attending a vehicle on fire, and it seems to have spread.

even if it turns out the fire didn't originate in an EV there is a fair chance it has spread to one ,

That sounds an interesting read, do you have a link?

It was the actual news bulletin. Haven’t looked online.

One local source is reporting

"According to sources from the emergency services, the source of the fire is from the Tesla charge point on the top floor of the car park, where an electric car was left on charge and overheated causing the lithium battery to explode.

it will be like the fire in the carpark in Liverpool   total meltdown and years before motorists got paid out , I can see a segregated area  coming for multi storey carparks  with  electric vehicles and charging points  , that have a  water halo system installed in case of fire ,

all this is happening on a much too frequent basis , just wait for a ferry to go up and see what happens !

Here’s a quote from firefighters on BBC

Liam Smith, crew commander at Leighton Buzzard fire station, said that when he arrived, the fire was mainly on the third floor.

But it quickly spread down to the lower floors when the third floor started to collapse.

He said there were "lots of electric vehicles potentially involved quite early on".

"We decided to go defensive, which is basically where we decide to externally firefight rather than send firefighters in, for their safety as well.

"The cars were parked very close, next to each other.

"So unfortunately that was probably the reason for the rapid fire spread."
