Fred the shred
This is the Isle of Man and I think the reason given for not sending him to prison is naive at best and sending a wrong message out to any other nasty, wicked men who think they can hide behind religion and any subsequent embarrassment the victim may feel to escape punishment. This poor girls school friends will no doubt know, neighbours will be aware that she is missing from the household and anyone involved in the case will know. The mother was not prosecuted but must have been aware of this cruelty ,shame on her. I am so glad this girl has found a refuge with foster parents it is a pity she did not receive the justice she was due.

HiVibes
No doubt the church involved will see it a different way, really they should be named if they are getting people to do this sort of depraved shit, as an aside saw this a few weeks ago https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-66739880 and made me wonder what safeguarding looks like in organisations like Living Hope?
Fred the shred
By the report on IOMToday the other child that was taken from the home has now been returned to live with their loving parents, a father that has been found guilty of physical abuse and a mother who escaped prosecution but stood by and did nothing whilst it happened. What a wonderful home to be brought up in poor kid.
NoTail
He was only obeying God's instructions Proverbs 13:24 Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them. Proverbs 12:1 A rod and a reprimand impart wisdom, but a child left undisciplined disgraces its mother Proverbs 22:15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far away. Proverbs 29:17 Discipline your children, and they will give you peace; they will bring you the delights you desire Keep away from the Bible and religion. Its all bullshit.

Idk what more you were expecting here, this island has become infamous for protecting and letting off child physical/sexual abusers.

NoTail
Indeed. The ROC considers it to be a religious war "When Russia invaded Ukraine, the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) did not hesitate to throw its support behind the Kremlin’s war against a neighboring Orthodox nation. Far from wavering, that support has only grown more strident as the war progressed. The reason is not just that the church is used to giving its blessing to any actions taken by the country’s leadership. Quite simply, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, head of the ROC, is betting on Putin’s tanks to preserve the institution of the church throughout the fallen empire." https://carnegieendowment.org/politika/88916

One would hope. 1
doc.fixit
Lets hope so, but I wouldn't bet on the efficacy of the system. 1

newaccount
I'm sure the kids will live in fear of this happening again. Let's hope not.

It’s fairly disgusting to have your kids taken off you in the first place though. It sounds like this girl feels better off in foster care so it should be up to her if she engages with her parents in future or not.
Fred the shred
The worry is the one that has been placed back in the parent’s care. What mother would stand by and see her child beaten and not intervene, not one that is fit to raise a child.
