A lot of this boils down to the fact that there's no law against stupidity...

Ah yes, because watching some diddly little waves at the war memorial is considered stupid and dangerous on an island where the very same police force is totally happy with thousands of people standing inches away from super bikes doing 200mph. Makes sense.

It's not the warning that's the issue. Warning the public and pointing out the dangers is their job.

It's their method of delivery that's in question

I know of one RPU officer who has been in charge of SM posts and the impression I've always had of him is that he's only really there for the "toys" he gets to play with - practically wets himself over the Mustang at TT and if Jacksons gives them the loan of an Aston or similar for some jolly.

Wouldn't be massively surprised if this wasn't some of his material

Same wording posted on the iom corruption page? Are you the secret person behind that page too? Or just copied and pasted?
also poor timing given police just pulled a body from The sea

Why are you all getting so worked up about a social media post when during Covid you all put up with a full blown Police State?

I really am struggling to see the reason for this mock shock.

11 Pages?

Really?

If "Shuey" had gone out to the girls and Tazer'd them, I could see the outrage, but this is nothing in comparison to IOM police standing over the Abbotswood  building when the residents left, or the police bike escort for the coach for the returnees.

Or the carer that got petrol that was locked up and best of all, the woman running away from domestic abuse that got locked up.

Please, will someone explain the outrage?

I'm sure if the waves were little and diddly the police would not have taken any action at all.

Don't you agree...?

I went past there as well after I got enough footage at summerland. Both locations were far below any wave or damage levels I would call unusual for these locations, an observation supported by the fact that neither road was closed and apart from a little sand and seaweed there was not that much debris on the road. Seen way worse on both locations over the last twenty years and again: if it was so bad, why not close the road?

I have a plan. All the local police should wear bodycams, with a live feed to the Internet.

The Isle of Man could be world-leaders. Log on and watch your favourite bobby fighting crime and typing in Facebook posts.

It could be monetised - pay extra to suggest sarcastic or insulting hashtags for the Facebook news posts.

Possibly not one of my best plans.

Yes, sad that a body has been found in the sea at Ramsey but again there is the request not to speculate? How could speculation be beyond belief??? Doesn't do them any cred to their reaction to individual items rather than an a scripted response!!!

Still, generally a good job from the Police.

Sympathies to the Family.

Well is the police force totally happy with thousands of people standing inches away from super bikes doing 200mph?

Your evidence for that is?

It’s just that they can’t do anything about it. Like they can’t about weather watching.

Both activities are legitimate until deemed otherwise.

It’s just more practical to have a couple of advisory words with a few people watching waves than “ thousands of people”

maybe if we refrain from weather hyperbole would help.....stop giving everything a shit name to stoke the fear!

So true. Weather is constantly dramatised. The island has always had bouts of severe weather. People were able to cope without internet even!  But the girls did the right thing.
