TheTeapot
People who complain the loudest about benefit fraud, the most judgmental, are also people who have no fucking idea whatsoever about the reality of the situation. They scoff at the idea of paying it back at £10 a week taken from benefits because they do not understand what a punishment that actually is. Ignorant.

Ignorant. i guess being down 130 quid a week compared to what you have been used to might be fairly uncomfortable for her, you can bet she has been living to the limits of those means for the last 5 years, if she has HP on anything she is likely to be defaulting on payments very soon which will bring more court appearances for her in due course.

If someone steals from the Gov to feed themselves or their family then that's fair game frankly. Except it’s not.I’ve spent 40 years here paying my taxes and not claimed any benefits. I’m very glad and blessed that I haven’t had to. I am also glad, that like in most civilised societies, that my taxes have been used in part to help those others less fortunate than myself. It’s the way it should be. What I’m not happy about is that people abuse the system and steal, yes not to beat about the bush, steal money to which they are not entitled. You say this money was stolen from the Government to feed self and family then this is OK. If this was a case of having tostaving off hunger then yes. But have you any evidence of this? Or just using emotive language to try and justify your stance?

Why have you put “ frauds” in commas? Benefit fraudsters do actually exist you know. Presumably you’re happy to send money to the Nigerian 419 “fraudsters”then? Most of this “fraud” is circumstantial and down to oversight or change of circumstances not fraudulent intent. Whereas someone turning up for work on Monday knowing they literally have fuck all to do for the next 6 months or more in their non-job is perfectly fine. I know which one of those is a crook and which one isn’t. I think you are confusing two totally unrelated issues.

I think you are clueless if you see any real harm in what this woman has done. Those who have access to all the info have chosen to punish her in a way you think is very lenient. Doesn”t that tell you anything?

No. It's exactly the same thing. It's depriving the Government of money to which it is entitled. If you're demanding harsh punishment for benefit fraudsters, then you should demand the same for tax dodgers. Arguably worse as the latter will usually be better off than the former and so have less excuse.

Have we won the “war on drugs”? We're not doing so badly. That zero policy has served us ok, certainly in comparison to UK. Keep the drugs and the druggies bastards out of our Island, I say. Andy Onchan
Aren't certain benefits reviewed at some point? Surely they're not paid out indefinitely without review/checks in place?
