They must use the same acquirer / clearing bank. The issue seen at Tesco yesterday was actual till issues.

The Shoprite till system was steam powered. Why would they need to keep the support for that?

Sure but remind me of the times when they had to close the shop because they could not operate those steam powered tills ?

The Shoprite till system was the same one in use in the SPAR shops on the Island. Not a small product by any stretch. https://www.cbe.ie/ Edited July 11 by swoopy2110

It looks like for this weekend we are being treated like England with our Express stores closing at 7:30 on Sunday, while the Scots and Welsh carry on as normal. Wonder if we will get a bank holiday if the UK declare one?

Hardly Steam powered, less than 5 years old, newer and superior to the Tesco system and a lot more resilient by the look of it.

It definitely wasn't better than the Tesco system lol. Tech problems happen. We all survived.

By what measure? There were quite a few times I was in Shoprite and the on line payment system wouldn't work Issues like this are generally out of the hands of the retailer and in the hands of the banks. Newer? Didnt look newer.

We already get too many and it doesn't benefit the poor buggers who need it
