WTF
35 minutes ago, A fool and his money..... said: Load of English cowboys working 16 hour days on the lump. Can't imagine it being much of a job. those cowboys will be employed full time by tesco to do refits and remodells , that's all they do as job so they will know what they are doing , whether the local lump hammer brigade can work to their standards is the issue they will have.

finlo
Just now, Gladys said: Yes, truly shambolic. Lord knows how they have continued to secure their place as the leading supermarket in the UK for so long. Well for starters when they took over Shoprites warehouse ( The DC in Tesco speak) they were too stupid to have sorted a road haulage licence beforehand which confined all the lorries to barracks until they did much panic/groveling to Graylaw ensued (including bringing in UK resources) at vast expense to service the stores finger on the ball not! Is that a shambles, if it happened? It hasn’t left the shelves empty.

Kopek
Of course Gladys. ....but who knows what their market leading position is down to ppressure on their suppliers and in this case, their 're-furbishment' crews are subject to? Or a heart felt desire to provide the public with a 'very best' consumer experience??? Take it or leave it?, will your company get a new contract? We can't know what goes on behind the scenes, unless anyone knows better!!!

We can't know what goes on behind the scenes, unless anyone knows better!!! No, we don't know what is going on behind the scenes. But I do know as a customer that I prefer Tesco to Shoprite - clean stores, pleasant staff, plenty of choice and good prices. Shoprite always felt a bit downtrodden, and at the lower end of the scale. I spoke to a member of Shoprite staff just before they closed and she 'couldn't wait' to move to Tesco, having worked there before. I said 'probably better T&Cs?', she replied yes, we will get sick pay. Can't verify or give an explanation for that comment, but it certainly resounded with me. ETA That is not to say Shoprite staff are unpleasant, just not enthused. Hope it goes well for them all. Probably not, there's more to being a real tradesman that sticking some MDF to the wall and getting on the next boat.

It’s a different jurisdiction. It’s hardly a surprise there will be a few things overlooked (if this is even true)
