Its good. Yes they did, because they have a bit of foresight and intelligence. We are going to start work on an ugly wall in a few weeks that will completely obstruct the view, and then pay for new benches so you can stare at the wall. The planning application is all available on line. It will be in before the benches at a guess, and render them completely pointless

Are these new benches to allow people to sit and gaze at the concrete wall? first inshore gale and the concrete wall will be gone if you watch the sea coming in on a stormy, day the openings in the railings actually break the force of the water down , put something solid there in their place like a wall and it wont last five minutes , I see the tractor was busy dragging seaweed back down the beach today and creating huge piles only to be washed up again tomorrow , boy do these people know how to waste money and resourses , stand by for a huge increase in the Douglas rates !

Kopek
There is land and there is sea, there is and always has been conflict between the two, should we try to win over the sea? Would that be a waste of time? Regards the benches, they have been there some 30 years, they could go on for another 20 yrs. They're only something for some people to sit on occasionally, a situation not to be ignored by authorities but................... from DCorps point of view, do we need Hi-Tech replacements or indeed, replacements at all??? If people can sit on the current benches, do they need replacing at all ???

Many people use loch prom during lunch and to eat and socialise and the new benches are better for that. Seats can be covered with wood polymer and weather shouldn’t affect them as much as it might do with the old ones. Seats could be covered with gold for all I care. I’ve not eaten or socialsed on the prom for many years since I had a flock of seagulls * swoop down and grab the tray of sausage, chips, peas onions and gravy from the New Hong Kong which I held in my hands, (when they did such lunchtime specials). Bastards * Actual birds , not the pop group of the same name ( obviously).
