You bet your ass. Wonder if some are still claiming tax relief for parking since they have not been charged for at least three years.

As well as the free parking, you can also probably safely bet that Allinson’s new tax rules to progressively remove allowances from ‘high earners’ won’t set a ‘high earning’ threshold of around £75K to claw some of this back either. Despite most people probably regarding someone on over £70K a year as a ‘high earner’

It does also make a mockery of the usual MLP members going on about poverty though from the comfort of their £75K tax payer funded salaries. Hopefully they’re optimizing their charitable donations to Hamas for tax efficiency.

Why?

You're arguement is that once you earn £75k you lose the right to argue on behalf of others who earn vastly less. No matter what lived experience they have had of poverty or what their constituents experiences are. That quite frankly is just stupid.

One thing you can do is to stop voting and giving them a mandate every five years. If nobody voted then things might change. Remember that an electoral system needs legitimacy. We don't get decent candidates because the Island is still the cosy plutocracy that it's been for generations. The people who could really make a difference are well looked after, without having to stand for election. They're already pulling the strings.

Given that the House of Keys fought for years until 1866 to prevent anyone electing them, other than themselves, and are still happy to appoint LegCo without any votes from the plebs, I can't see them being much weeping at the lack of a democratic mandate.  They'd just claim that it meant 99% of the public were blissfully happy with them.

True but so sad.

Does air miles Alf deserve a 30% pay rise?  He's banged on about an island plan for two years and achieved nothing.  His crowning achievement is signing off on the Liverpool landing stage.

He doesn’t get a 30% pay rise. He’s paid 30% more than the standard MHK salary as CM. He gats the same percentage pay rise.

I think the sooner it’s realised that MHK’s/MLC’s actually have very little or nothing to do with most decisions apart from rubber stamping what CS have decided we might be able to move on. CS have clearly far too much influence , not surprising really , and almost like a runaway train. Till that is addressed nothings changing and won’t make any difference how much MHK’s salaries are. It will only get dealt with when the money runs out and seemingly the way it’s going that’s not long.

I never said you lose the right just that you’re a bloody hypocrite if you choose to publicly do so. Poor Joney on her £75K salary and gold plated pension trying to fix the world.

This just proves that you actually are quite, quite stupid.
