Hitting it Big

I don't see why some people think this is 'targetting' the IoM

Looking at teir T&Cs: The competition is only open to all residents in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Isle Of Man Or Channel Islands aged 18 years or over

And it probably gets around the lottery rules by making it a 'skill-based competition':

2.2. All competitions are skill-based competitions. Entry fees for online entries are payable each time you enter. Where the Promoter offers an easy or multiple choice question, a free entry route is available.

2.3. To be in with a chance of winning, everyone who enters the competition (an “Entrant”) will be required to correctly answer a question or solve a problem set by the Promoter (the “Competition Question”).

How skill based is answering one obvious pathetic question correctly?

It just gets around a legal loophole, however simple it is.

I've won a couple of times with them. Odds are good and having chatted with the team, they're professional and are doing well.

There are loads of these competition companies around the UK (mostly putting up cars for prizes), but this one just seems one of the better ones.

You can see where a Facebook ad is being targeted if you click into it. Hittin’ It Big are deliberately targeting the IOM with their Facebook ads.

And by having the “free entry” route. I’d love to know if anyone has ever won through a “free entry”. I’m going to say probably not.

It wouldn’t get around IOM laws- in the IOM combined games of skill and luck are still gambling- but it’s not in the IOM so it doesn’t matter.

It’s illegal to advertise an unlicensed lottery in the IOM. They’re buying an advert targeted at the IOM but, as they’re buying it in Northern Ireland, are they breaking the law?

I first started gambling with Hittin it big around 15 months ago, I’ve probably spent in the region of £500-600 in that time and won nothing so far, but it’s only money I was spending on lottery tickets anyway, I would say in that time the odds have winning have actually gone down, very rarely do you see a comp that’s only sold say 40-50% of tickets which was fairly common when I started.

Biggest thing is don’t believe the posts saying it’s a low number of entrants and thus better odds, by the time a few of those posts go out it’s never shy of being 80% sold through. I tend to go for the big cash, car or instant win comps which are typically £1.99 - £2.99 a go.

The entry list is viewable to all so I do believe it’s kosher, however you’ll see people buying £30-£50 worth of tickets in one go.

It’s nothing to do with me.  I genuinely know four people well enough that I would stop and speak to them in the street who have won over 20k each, and probably another 15 who have won smaller prizes of 1-5k

I’m sure what you say is true but you must admit it does seem highly implausible.

Your point being? on an Island this size it is certainly possible that people know winners. I'm guessing you don't socialise much so wouldn't have a clue about what's going on

I suspect it’s probably more about the sort of people you socialise with that determines how many winners you are likely to know
