Modern slavery arrests

There have been rumours doing the rounds for ages about this and it seems the police have finally made six arrests. It’s not exactly the thing that you’d expect to be going on in the IOM but over 200 people are referred to of Algerian, Filipino, Indian and Pakistani origin. It seems that our government is so desperate to get people in under some misplaced belief that they will distribute to government coffers that they’ve turned their backs on any sense of good governance and control.

In the meantime we can’t even encourage our own kids to return from Uni with any sensible incentives whilst leaving the door open for sleazy people traffickers. This government has lost the plot.

100,000 or bust. Fill all those rental properties. Work permits not required. Modern slavery and people trafficking on the IOM. What a disgrace.

I notice on FB there is a huge increase in people advertising for shared rooms or space in shared houses with African sounding names. It looks like we are bringing a lot of people over here who can’t really afford to live here.

I know someone who advertised a job and had over thirty pigeon English speaking Africans apply.

IOMG lost the plot years ago. What you and others are saying is perfectly reasonable, sadly though, the usual IOMG cheerleaders will be on criticising those who express negative opinions. This report is serious, especially if any charges arise.

It looks like there’s some nice little dodgy earners now going on around our slave labour network. No not only can you come here on a dodgy VISA but we’ll do you a dodgy IOM drivers license as well no questions asked and no need to take a test. Nice pigeon English too. This is clearly what we have opened up in our quest to keep civil servants employed in the style they have become accustomed to.

Straight into the database too so I wonder who they have working at the DOI or IOM Post?

Advertising on Facebook would not seem to be the brightest thing to do. Maybe some kid has got a laser printer and a laminator.

Yes but some of these people might not have been in the IOM long enough to realize just how unbelievably stupid that is. It’s been doing the rounds on Facebook last few days.

As a Friday evening non-sequitur....  years ago the daughter of a friend was knocking up fake driving licences - not for driving, but for school friends to use as ID to get into pubs.

You know what school kids are like. Always doing stuff that they shouldn't.

But eventually the police turned up on the doorstep. They told her to knock it off - and complimented her on her workmanship.
