I should have emphasised the 'and'. I don't think the vast majority of people would think it acceptable. Most of society has for a long time thought slavery a very bad thing, despite what is condoned and instructed in the Bible. If more Christians were literal then things would be different but they have picked the bits they liked and discarded the rest, which makes it all the more ridiculous that they are Christian.
