Dirty Buggane
So it says in Examiner, extra costs due to inflation material costs and wages increasing higher than expected. No mention of sheer incompetence when it comes to managing schemes or gold plated pension for civil servants or grandiose pipe dreams. We have to increase money to meet our needs, no mentioning of stop spending so much money on shite. CrazyDave
Inflation, materials and wages have all increased more than expected. Facts. So what’s the issue? Private projects are all over budget as well 4
Non-Believer
You can guarantee that Govt will be about to make no "tough decisions" in respect of cutting its cloth in respect of itself though. Are we still up for another 50+ HR staff to self-administer our growing Govt empire, for instance? 5

It's another problem; they don't dare touch any of the little "bonuses" that make us attractive to "those" able to exploit them for fear of also losing "those". Treasury is now a one-trick pony with that only trick being to hammer the local residents via the various Depts and Statutory Bodies. Given the dwindling reserves, the liabilities being carried and the inability to reduce the expense of a growing Govt headcount, none of it looks pretty right now. To fix the mess that has been going on since before the 2006 'Scope and Size of Government ' report. The axe-men cometh.

Even if they stood on that platform, when they get in they're quickly rendered (or convinced to be) powerless. Look at some of the manifestos from 2021 and what promptly happened afterwards.
