Didn’t they ship in engineers and architects and the likes for the Prom. Am sure they did as that was reason for early delays as they didn’t have the working plans for the contract hence the reason they kept jumping all over the place. Contract  plans they had just not  detailed .

they haven't stopped the crossing subsiding in places so i wouldn't call them engineers .

"I wouldn't bet on it. You have to have a qualified engineer, a planning supervisor, a project manager and a construction supervisor."

They never seemed to be bothered using any of the above on any other project

Oh yes they did. They just weren't very good at it.

They didn't have plans for the buried services. That because there aren't any. They didn't have CAD in the 1890's. The locations of the water pipes and sewers were not accurately known.

They could have surveyed them in advance though.

That might have just been the quality of the workforce and complete lack of supervision. Just saying !

Also note that

Satire is dead.

It's also worth pointing out that M&Co closed down almost exactly a year ago, so the commercial geniuses of the DoI have had all that time to consider letting out the business for the short term.  And to fix the roof.

They had an indoor market in there for christmas, people selling their creative hand made knick knacks and that, and it was during some heavy December rain while it was open that the roof issues became apparent. Things got wet.

It is going to be interesting at St Ninian's church this TT week if this planning application gets approval:

Online Services - Planning Application Details (gov.im)

the spread of TT related activities seems destined to cover the area from Governors Bridge to Bray Hill.

I'll bet the wrinklies in the adjacent sheltered housing will be cock-a-hoop.

There doesn't appear to be any parking provision for visitors to the festival and market and if the one way system is in place on St Ninian's road again the usual chaos in the area could be exacerbated.

This has the hallmarks of another DFE plan to enhance the TT experience. Will no doubt be a nice little earner for the church though.

Actually I wonder if it's more in opposition to the DfE and its operation at the Grandstand.  The application is on behalf of the Manx FTMA who are the Manx Food Market Traders Association, the people who ran the stalls on North Quay in the Summer.  There clearly have been complaints about local businesses being unable to get a pitch at the Grandstand (I discussed an FoI on this earlier) so this looks like an unofficial alternative as near to the Grandstand as they can get.  That would explain why this is really going in a bit latter than you would normally expect for this TT (though that doesn't seem to worry the DoI).

Something has changed cos they filled in the gateway from the church carpark into nobles with a stone wall.
