But much better racing

Different racing. Mass start as opposed to time trial. But I wouldn’t say better. But different- yes. I enjoy both. I prefer the TT. And I don’t poo in hedges. That is to say, I haven’t poo’d in a hedge yet.

I suspect it's his colleagues in DFE.

Me, my wife, my kids, and friends some of whom were local and some who were visitors, who I was out and about with last TT.

Looking forward to this one.  Motorbike groups and forums have been busy for months with people looking for accommodation and recommendations of places to watch from.

After planning officers gave it the green light too.

Now why do you suppose....?

Because for some reason that I am yet to understand, despite the fact we appear to have more than sufficient food vendors/trucks etc that are Manx (and would keep their earnings on the IOM and pay tax here) who would happily occupy the Grandstand it appears preferable to ship in a load of UK caterers.   Its food vans for god sake, they're not exactly a highly specialised and sought after industry.

And then it went to Planning and we all know what happens then.  A bunch of dicks and a bunch of pussies have a competition pissing on batteries.

Who is the chairman of the planning committee and what did he used to do?

According to someone on Facebook it was turned down owing to the potential noise and disturbance it would cause to residents. Residents who live next door to a race track and car park during TT week... you honestly couldn't make it up!

I thought that the foodie village was the same as the foodie market on North Quay, with artisan companies making and selling homemade chocolates etc. For something that is only for two weeks - temporary not permanent, says something about the decision making on this island. Unless there are ulterior motives at play?

the bottom line is that if there is cheaper competition near by then the grandstand traders aren't going to shell out long thousands to IOMG to be able to sell the most expensive take away food on island TT week.

Cheaper? I thought it was small local Manx products, like handmade chocolates and artisan food products. Jason Moorehouse MHK at the last Tynpotwald questioned about a shop local campaign. Tell that to planning,

We don't want cheaper competition to Phillips' World of Very Expensive Comestibles at the Grandstand now, do we....?

I'm not aware it was ever specified exactly who would be there.  But my understanding was it was going to be a mix of food van types, pop-up booths of local restaurants and the artisan producers of Loughtan sausage and the like.

Kinda like the food festival they have at the Villa Gardens the last few years.

ETA Just seen this...

The Manx Food Market Traders’ Association had hoped to host the event featuring stalls and food trucks offering breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as live music and entertainment.

A marquee area with seating, a stage area and a pop-up fine dining venue inside St Ninian’s church itself also formed part of the plans. The association had wanted to run the event from May 27 to June 8 as part of a ‘celebration of Manx produce and hospitality’.

And just the kind of thing that might help give a struggling hospitality firm a shot in the arm and help see them through the next few months, ah well never mind..
