No it implies something is possibly the greatest year of an event if nobody dies - a strange metric indeed

No it doesn't. Any TT clearly has the capability to be one of the greatest TTs. Noting a safe first couple of days and a good forecast is hardly odd behaviour.

Just caught the last third of No Room For Error on ITV4. Not for the squeamish. Pretty grim really.

Did you happen upon it by chance after closing one of the IOM TT Wiki pages you spend your evenings reading (also by chance)?

News article singing the praise of catering up at the grandstand -

Government says thousands of people enjoy the food, drink and merchandise available at The Grandstand each day during the TT festival.

It comes after some expressed concerns about the cost of catering available to visitors and locals.

Manx Radio's William King went to The Grandstand to take a look and speak to some TT fans:

A caller to Manx Radio's Mannin Line claimed someone had been charged £25 for a burger, fries and water at the paddock.

Chief Officer of the Department for Enterprise Mark Lewin says he doesn't recognise those claims:

Some of the food trucks at The Grandstand come over to the Island for the TT fortnight.

Owner of The Street Diner John Labella says he employs Manx staff and only uses local produce when at the TT.

When asked to respond to claims that the price of burgers at the event was high, he responded: "Welcome to the Isle of Man":

Isn't this always the way at big events?  The pitch charges are high because it is a big event with plenty of punters and so the cost is passed on.

It is the way of commerce - high demand = high prices.  Holidays are more expensive in school holidays, hotels are dearer if there is a big event, even gold gets dearer when everyone wants to buy.  Market forces.

Don't know what people are complaining about, really.  It happens everywhere and in every area of business.

I'm not complaining as I don't spend my money up there. Just putting across the prices

What are the pitch prices though? Anyone know? I've heard £5K and £11K being quoted.

Where do the funds from the pitch fees go to?

£9K for a standard pitch, whatever that is (as I've just been told by someone who was thinking about setting up a pitch there).

I would imagine near to the top end, if it’s large pitch. In the article one of the food truck proprietors says they employ Manx Labour. I would guess it’s on the minimum wage.
