They had been previously and knew the family and were very upset about the death but obviously still needed accommodation. Just seems weird thinking they could turn up without checking, we surely should have a policy in place that all visitors should confirm and have proof of accommodation before they get on the boat.

The Spanish border control sometimes use that, you have to show proof of return ticket, accommodation, and have enough money to see you through your stay. Quite a lot of border forces insist on that.

But presumably they did have proof, sent by the guy before he died. It doesn't say when he did and it could have been fairly recently. So they could have been in contact fairly recently and that might explain why the family hadn't gone through the paperwork (or more likely e-mails) and realised they were due to arrive. It's difficult to see how you can prevent this sort of thing happening.

If you've got a hotel booking or confirmation for a homestay, you don't usually bother checking a day or two beforehand that you still have the booking or the host is still alive. Just an unfortunate series of events.
Gizo
The last time I saw the pitch prices was 2 years ago, it was just under £11,000 if you served Hot (i’d call it greasy) food, it was about £5000 if you sold cold or Vegan/vegetarian food. Coffee trailers were roughly £4000. Now add on IoM Govt inflation the last 2 years the noise about £11k for a pitch now sounds about right.

My reading of facebook post was the new owner of house had a gang of spanish bikers turn up, so presumably they had no proof and was just an assumption they could stay where they always have without confirming before they left. That's not going to go down well with the fans who've spent a fortune to get here. Perfect conditions out there tonight. Whose decision was this ? A fool and his money..... The road isn't going anywhere. Madness.
La Colombe
That sounds like speculation to me.
