To add some perspective, around 1500 people are killed on the roads in the UK every year and there have been an estimated 187 million people killed by war in the same period. If you want to stop untimely death, there are more productive places to start than the TT/MGP.

Gizo
Just like the logic of using normal activity road deaths to a race ?

There have been thousands of deaths in construction in Britain since 1907. It still continues with many more rules and regulations and safety improvements so the injury and death rates are way down. The numerous improvements at the TT both on open and closed roads are having the same effect. Things can carry on and still be risky but be far, far safer than they used to be. It doesn’t mean people have to keep banging on about how dangerous a building site is because people used to die or be injured. Its still dangerous of course, but much safer and better managed than it used to be. TT is the same. Get over it 2

TheTeapot
It's not so much the actual deaths that are the problem, its the having to like it.

Get over it But you're confusing two things. We've had three years of no deaths on public roads during the TT festival, but there were six deaths from racing in 2022 and three in 2023. It's too early to claim some sort of pattern I'm afraid. And the record over longer periods doesn't really show an improvement over the decades: Unlike most health and safety matters, or indeed general road safety deaths.
