She didn't, she was told by Comin to retract, a word in her ear from KLB not to rock the boat!!! It avoids the debate in Tynwald where the Comin could have faced defeat? Embarrassing for Julie? Yes! She could have resigned and stuck by her original assessment, as advised by her CS, or acquiesced and retained her position!!! Comin, what would we do without them??? Fred the shred
She has been useless from the start of her tenure in this post I think the only reason she has not been removed is there is really no one to fill the position, a lack of competence is the overall problem in this government.

Kopek
Fred, she was elected, as such she is there to 'have her say' , hopefully with her constituents behind her views. Was she elected as LVp candidate with support from P Karran? Is she still a LVP member???? So many aren't~!!! Once they're elected!!! We all know the answers.

Mainly quarries I would guess & they are responsible for "monitoring and managing mine entrances on public land... the Department’s abandoned mines programme"

What is wrong with that.? The salary being offered is hardly megabucks contrary to what some would have you believe re Civil Service wages. “The role offers you the opportunity to join a busy and exciting area within the heart of the Department, providing general administrative support to the Energy Policy Team.” What is your problem? The list of benefits available actually far exceeds the list of any mining qualifications and previous experience required. Remarkable. One would have thought that at least a little bit of geology knowledge might have come in useful? Bill1977
Why can’t they appoint people to departments that actually know something about that industry or worked in it ie Allison to health, Hooper to finance, Moorhouse to education etc It makes no sense!
