I think you’ll find that treasury are fairly tough with most departments/MHKs who are always knocking on the door asking for more money. Well without knowing the specific circumstances, needs of the department concerned and other details it’s a pretty big assumption to make. Maybe you have inside knowledge. It may even be that two people in that department have resigned simultaneously and the powers that behave decided they can replace them with one person. We just don't know the ins and outs But if that were the case it would mean a net loss of one position,so that would be good wouldn’t it? The key words in your post Derek are “ I suspect” You don’t know ( and I don’t know) what the reality is. With respect, somebody may equally have said when you came to work in the police force or were promoted ( I don’t know your career progression)“ we don’t need him in that position, the role could be streamlined and its responsibilities absorbed elsewhere” And I would wager that you were employed on a lot more than thirty grand.
