As I say above, I'm starting to feel sorry for Dave! There's something wrong surely??!!! 😀 Yes he is insulting and abusive to fellow posters and much as your instinctive reaction is to be insulting and abusive to him in return, what does that achieve? Just an escalating cycle of insults back and forth which none of which serve any purpose. Who says “ Crazy Dave called me a dick, maybe he’s right, I will revisit my posts” “No one” is the answer. Same as if you call Crazy Dave a dick, he is not really going to take any notice. So why waste your time responding? Yes he obviously has problems but they are not going to be sorted out by his postings, and responses thereto, on here.

False imprisonment, which as crimes go is probably worse than parking in a disabled bay 🙂

In which case what was the point of parking anyway? Or, do you mean if the disabled driver goes out of the car, the passenger should be locked in? In which case you missed the last phrase 'whilst you sit in the car'.

You've seen that we are pretty good at filtering out dross and spam when it arrives. There are some sensible and pleasant poster, but then there are people like teapot and some others. It’s a thread about disabled parking. I commented that when I was required to use a blue badge I never had an issue with parking. A couple of idiots then make jokes about me abusing the blue badge. I point out it was so I could bring a little bit of pleasure into my mums last few months while she died a horrible death. Absolute bellends then take the piss out of that. Charming. I hope you all have lovely lives where you never have to watch someone suffer like I did. I remember an incident where l disobeyed the law and had no choice but to use a disabled bay. My husband was terminally ill at this point, and it was heartbreaking to watch him painfully take each step. We had waited for 4 weeks for the said blue badge, when it hadn't arrived, l rang the department responsible and was told it was still sitting at the bottom of their pile. They said they would send it out as soon as possible. He never got to use it once by the time it arrived some days later, as the parking l did illegally was unfortunately the last time he was able to go out. I understand Dave's post about his mother, and the valuable use of her disabled badge especially towards the end of her life. I also know of a tale of abuse of such blue badges. If you are able to walk a fair distance, you should, after all, your heart is a muscle you benefit from using it.

Although on occasion I admit I don’t always follow it, if say maybe I’ve had a glass of wine or two and the abuse is totally beyond the pale. If someone says I’m an idiot I’m normally quite happy to let that go. But if people would adopt the policy of not responding to insults and adopt a blanket policy of merely ignoring them, maybe this forum would be less confrontational and more what it’s supposed to be, an exchange of ideas and opinions. I would broadly agree with this - but it’s a question of where to draw the line. Your stated policy is not to respond to personal abuse. But I’ve seen you do it - and you’ve very honestly stated above that you don’t always follow your own policy. I’m sure you’re not alone in that - sometimes one can be provoked into responding even when one knows that it’s not the wisest course of action. Sometimes it depends how resilient one feels on that day - or precisely which buttons have been pushed.

Fred the shred
It is very easy to judge and sometimes circumstances make for difficult decisions, if for instance you took someone with a Blue Badge to the doctors and the doctor gave them a prescription would you then drive them home and then venture out again to visit the chemist to have the prescription made up or escort them back to the car and drive to the nearest chemist and pop in to get the prescription serviced. Things are not always black and white .
