High street chemists usually don't have any experience with some of the meds I'm on

Once again, Hemensleys top service, asked for cheap cough mixture, Ian popped out from the back to recommend one  that was OK with the anti-coags I'm on! Of all the cough mixes on the shelf, He was able select one.

This is like an 'Old  Codgers' talk about our drugs thread !!! 😀

That's code for more cuts!

It's worrying that these clowns seem to be planning a spending bonanza.

Fair enough, the health service does need to be properly funded. But what else will they splurge on? Probably £100m for horse trams or some such thing.

Stop giving the staff pay rises above budgets will help, the budgets were 2% generally, unsure on healthcare but the absolute minimum anyone got including the £100k + people was 6% and we know teachers, police and healthcare got over this. If it’s a pay budget of 3% then that’s it .

Yet the unions insist on inflation-or-above rises, "anything else is a pay cut" etc etc.

Stu Peters has posted on these very boards that he doesn't see why MHKs should have received a below inflation rise either....

I would like to see flat rate rises for a while not percentage rises.

Cut backs on the top dogs and managers, not the coal face workers.

Totally agree £2kpa is 10% for £20k person but only 2%for higher earners but unions don’t like it as erodes differentials. Should be say 3% salary pot with more for lower earners and less for those at very top.

too late for all that the new Castle Rushen school and sports centre will be around  £50 million   if you add the windfarm and all the other items on the wish list Alf will have no option but to start raiding the NI fund ,

financially the island is in deep doo doo  and only  some severe  financial management  with deep cuts   will  help us survive , we are a village (small town ) equivalent  in the UK 82 K  he have to stop behaving like we have money to burn ,or one of the Emirates    belts need to tighten  and government spending  curbed ,

time for a dose of realism   curtail  excessive  spending  and support essential services ,

We've been banging on about this for well over a decade. Have you seen the train sequence in the latest Mission Impossible film?

Treasury were talking about raiding the reserves to fund climate change nonsense and invest more of the reserves in ESG funds.  They seem to be less popular at the moment due to the terrible returns and faux green credentials of the bigger players.

More details on treasury's plan to bankrupt the island here:

Here's the Budget from last year, it was "No Gamble", apparently. How many of the other points came to fruition too?

Tbf to Allinson and his ilk, it never is a gamble in their position. Baked in pay rises, zero chance of being held accountable, and £600m of reverses to fall back on when it goes wrong.

They love that word 'pragmatic'.

This year we are being warned about 'tough choices'.
