It's what they've been doing with fruit and veg for years while claiming "local produce". You only have to have half an eye open to see the country of origin of almost all Robinsons produce is not the Isle of Man. Robingits as I prefer to call them.

Perhaps they will add to the current range and partly fill the gap left by Ramsey Bakery closing. They'll need some guaranteed markets to make that pay I suspect...such as a deal with Spar and/or Tesco.

Well Tesco's have already reneged on their claims to support local producers.

There's only one winner. A control freak? Top tip. Nobody really cares about how a bloke with no life moderates a website so inconsistently. Are you lacking power and control in other parts of your life that make you extend a ban because someone simply laughs at your pathetic comment? Get a life sad lad. 1

"Sassing" for crying out loud, made it sound like something from a 50s themed gay musical

They said they would consider local producers if they met their standards. Let's face it, packaging meat products in plastic trays with a cling film wrap is just not meeting most packaging standards nowadays. Nor is opening prepacked meat (probably packed in a controlled environment) that is approaching its sell-by date just to sprinkle it with some artifical flavouring and repackage in polystyrene trays, again with cling film. Shoprite don't seem to do that anymore, thank heavens. These were things that Shoprite was quite happy to accept, but Tesco will apply very high standards of packaging. IIRC it was the handling and packaging of IOM Meats that led to them being dropped by Tesco. IOM Meats are back in Tesco and are often better value than Tesco's own stuff. It is those standards that Tesco may be insisting on, and so they should, rather than the quality of the actual produce.
