Daphne joins DFE

It’s a bit like the Fast Show.

Today Daphne is largely trying to get rid of shit for free on Twitter as she can’t be arsed to go to the tip. Does she worry about all the fuel miles done by those who pick it up when she could have taken it to the tip in her electric car?

If you've ever looked at or been to her residence then you'll know that's about 10% of what she needs to get rid of. Think New Age Traveller site...

Perhaps it’s a Manx version of the TV show …………… on the BBC Money for Nothing.

It is all over FB people giving away to recycle or to people just starting out some awful tatty gear, to be fair there is also some decent stuff , but why trail to the tip when you can give away fridges, tellys, which have to be paid for when you can get them taken away by someone for free.   Some of the mattresses leave a lot to be desired.

When the vote happens, Cain will express her gratitude by voting for him, but Edge would not have.

But I'm cynical.

But surely the Island Plan and DESC plans for the coming year remain the same regardless of who is the minister. They don't have much freedom to manoeuvre.

This is an interesting point. Blair made a policy change to get involved in the EU defence initiative - driven by Germany and France, to establish a deterrent that didn’t involved the US. All of the UK MOD and FCO CS said the policy was NATO for war - EU for economic gain and collaboration. Blair turned that in his head by making a statement - that statement became policy. He did it to become a better European and curry favour in Europe. Our ministers could do this. Would be interesting. Incidentally when I worked in MOD policy, the French president decided to re-integrate into the military arm of NATO - against the long standing French policy (which I think came about due to the use of nuclear weapons but I need to re-educate myself on that). Again this sent shock-waves through the French civil service and military - but the president declared it and it became policy. So maybe if we had a CM with vision and courage (and ministers with the same values) we could do the same and things could actually change?
