I would like them to stop messing around and resurrect that massive statue of a seagull that was supposed to have been installed in Douglas. That would have been truly unique and iconic, and would be worth a squadrillion quid to the Douglas economy
Fred the shred
Where is it now ? Probably in the Museum behind the time boards from the grandstand, unless it has flown away.

Rather put up a wind turbine at least it'd be useful. If you want to see a gull up close just drop a chip and wait a minute. On second thoughts. Make it a perigrine falcon (which is at least on the national coat of arms) and it might keep the shitehawks at bay so you can eat chips in peace outdoors.
Two-lane
How about the £1.6 million for a new lightbulb for The Gaiety? Is it by public donation? Well, it is from the public but not by donation.

Well, it is from the public but not by donation. Except it’s not one light bulb, 300 plus stage lights, spots, floods, two new lighting control panels, sound control panels. It involves all sorts of necessary work. last time the lighting rig in the Gaiety was fully replaced was 1978. Not sure about the Villa. The current lights are no longer made. You can’t buy the bulbs. They’re banned, everywhere on environmental grounds, heat output. So, it’s moving to LED’s. The way old lighting colour changed was coloured gels. LED’s can emit different colours. So control panels need replacing to control that. Lots of visiting shows visit with their lighting plan on a lap top or dongle set up for LED. The existing equipment isn’t compatible. Limits who can come. The change over in UK started before Covid. It was completed shortly after theatres, concert halls, etc reopened after shutting down for the lockdowns.
