Omobono
At £70 for the first registration fee and £50 a year hereafter its an expensive exercise , no doubt we will be recruiting Stasi style secret police , probable will double up at Check point Charlie at the harbour and airport where the new version of border force and state police will be searching and scrutinising every arriving passenger , they should be utilising the true value of CCTV and doorbell type cameras , not penalising those who have already demonstrated a willingness to assist police in the detection and prevention of crime , just where is this Island going to with this policy

This initiative is the perfect example of the IOM life sucking public sector that is now resorting to blackmail and outright stealing to try to sustain itself. Fred the shred
I think a lot of people will just get rid of doorbells we existed without them for long enough.

It may have escaped your attention but it's quite coincidental that the government is on the brink of bankruptcy. 1

What has that got to do with something that has been a thing for longer than this current government has existed?

NoTail
IMO this is an excellent example of a law gone wrong. There was a perceived issue with government and large organisations gathering personal data and misusing it. The result is a new government department with the associated costs to stop this and anyone with a doorbell being threatened with a £10,000 fine. This is all completely ludicrous.

Fred the shred
Anyone who has a house that opens straight onto the street, or pavement, will be liable or even if they have steps onto the pavement or a small front garden it is crazy.
