You can have all the cheap labour you want but if people haven’t got the money to eat out that’s not going to help.

No one mention cheap labour, their is laws governing that , min wage and living wage, other than H&B most pubs pay more than min wage, its lack of people to work that’s the issue. Have a look at unemployment numbers

Too many tied up in public sector non-jobs.

It just shows how enthusiastic some members of the hospitality trade are whilst some opened up with a smile on Sunday and Monday others could not be assed pleading exhaustion , what a laugh.    In the day most of the locals did two jobs for the whole of the season a day job and a night job and yes it was tiring but you just got on and did it complaining about being exhausted after two busy weeks is a joke.    The hospitality business does not need help the decent venues will succeed and the people that are overcharging and not giving value for money will die a death as they fully deserve to. All businesses are facing challenges and to single out one section is grossly unfair.

Of course, when the Uni's close for the summer, there will be a plethora of staff, 'FYT s' just what is required ?  OK, they will be on their phone but when you need them, they will be there for your ordert! Not like Sharon who stood glowering at everyone from behind the Bar!!!

That's the difference now and the past, young  people who serve but are not servile, you ask for a drink, they serve you, ypou are equals, not servants?

it's strange how hospitality just won't work together. They all moan about wanting something done but it seems they aren't prepared to suffer a bit of hardship to achieve it. They can be embarrassing at times.

Do they have a Michelin star or something…

No idea.  They have twelve quid of my money, and won’t be getting any more.

I generally defend the brewery and the actual meals going out there looked velvety good, but £12 for that is an absolute piss take.  It was also £5.50 for a pint, which seems to be more than other brewery pubs.

I don’t mind paying for good food, but charging £17.50 for that and a pint is a joke.

Plus the fuel from Ramsey.

So we see at least part of the reason why the brewery's pub trade is in decline.

Yet only a couple of years ago, poster @Terry Fuchwit used to reckon that the brewery had a superb business model...
