Lonan3
From Manx Radio.com "A hectic days lies ahead for the Duke of York on the second day of his visit to the Isle of Man.... ...on the agenda is a visit to the Energy from Waste plant - the incinerator" The Grand Old Duke of York Came to the Isle of Man They marched him up to Richmond Hill To see their master plan. They told him how it worked So he could quickly learn How you only get energy from waste When you've got money to burn!

Phoenix
I reckon the Royal family must go round thinking that the whole world smells of paint!
Tugger
I used to think he was a complete tosspot but to his credit he does seem to be showing a modicum of genuine interest in the island

matty
What?? He's been to visit the incinerator??? FFS - I might not be a huge fan of royalty, (not into the whole "celebrity" thing either, but if a so calld "A list" celeb visited the Island and you wanted them to see something we "did" here, would you honestly take them to the incinerator????? - Bet they had removed all the dead animal waste & sprayed a bit of "glade" before he went there!!!!!!! Billy One Mate
Yes I met him and was extremely impressed that he showed a genuine interest in the Island not a pre rehearsed one. He had a lot of positive things to say about the Isle of Man and seemed genuinely impressed that five charities could actually work together with the common aim of providing a joint facility for people with learning difficulties (Project 21). Despite the reluctance of his security staff, who were worried that a media stunt would be pulled, he also spent a long time talking individually to the band members of Twisted Angels all which will be on the TV tomorrow (Friday) BBC 1 Northwest at 1.30 and 6.30PM. nipper
Monday morning's Manx Radio 'News' was fingers down your throat sickeningly IoM self glorifying. (International awards to our police and awards or something to petulant children and some other guff ). Then I realised there was royalty on the Island. It is the Isle of Man's equivalent of splashing new paint everywhere the minor hallowed one might go. edited to add: strangely, a reply to this post has been removed. mmmhh?
