Boo Gay'n
I am in no way defending the civil service or wider public sector here, but one case cannot support general conclusions. There are people in all walks of life who are obsessive, more or less narcissistic and demonstrate martyr/victim complex. It leads them into all sorts of difficulties and sometimes, as with Courtney Headcase, to prison. At least in this case the tribunal has slapped him down, although he is unlikely to give up. Were it not for HR inertia and cast iron CS T&Cs which make it virtually impossible to empty such cases. He was managed out. This is the hangover result. Two million paid out in 2022 to civil service chancers like him alone. It isn’t isolated at all. They see what others manage to get funded by us and are so self entitled that they fancy a go themselves. Often we pay without a fight under NDA to avoid the negative publicity when if it was defended properly they’d have likely lost. https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/almost-2-million-paid-to-staff-who-left-government-in-last-financial-year/ Edited May 15 by The Maverick

Mrs Lord Brennan said she was looking into that one but it will no doubt be forgotten about! and No I am not a Civil Servant Lol.

According to Daphne, the WHOLE climate team spent 2 months on the Gaia installation.

The culture of expectancy and entitlement is strong. Because nobody has done anything to change it, despite Alf's edicts on culture following Ranson.

That is exactly what is wrong with Government, masses of CS going to work to play! Daphne will be gone at the next general election so she's making the most of her climate idiocy. Logistics apparently. I'm sure there was some necessary overtime involved. Too busy sitting round a church to complete the decarbonisation study apparently. The other constituency MHK is far more likely to be emptied, especially if Gareth Young stands again. Who is going to stand against her? No big popular figure in sight. You can listen to her rather feeble excuses here: https://intranet.tynwald.org.im/business/listen/AgainFiles/O-202401-1369a.mp3 Apparently the "very small climate team" of only ten people have been "very much caught up in the last month with the logistics and installation"[1] of GAIA and so far too busy to put a "communications plan into place" to publish a report that seems to have been already completed for many months. [1] Note that this doesn't imply they've been doing anything as vulgar as the logistics or installation themselves.
