Does anyone have the link to the source of that, presumably Facebook, post?

LinkedIn. It’s actually clear who the posters first and second connections on LinkedIn are in that clip.

This is the the origin:

https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7206671807699927040/?updateEntityUrn=urn%3Ali%3Afs_updateV2%3A(urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A7206671807699927040%2CFEED_DETAIL%2CEMPTY%2CDEFAULT%2Cfalse)

It should surprise me, but it does not, that people on a business trip, paid for by the taxpayer, should choose to post a photograph of themselves enjoying a day out at a theme park rather than posting details of all the business meetings they have had.

It is not necessary to go on a zip-wire ride to know what they are. It is not necessary to go and meet the people running the theme park (or whatever name you whish to give it), because a telephone conversation will do.

It is not necessary for three people to go when one will do.

What is even more galling is that apparently "business" people are involved - but their knowledge of business obviously does not include controlling expenditure.

The people are also involved in encouraging people to visit the IoM, although their disregard for the people paying their wages implies that their understanding of other people is minimal.

They probably don't pay for car parking in Douglas, either.

It's amazing how ebullient and great life is on the back of the Manx taxpayer.

We've had Longworth and Co, trips to St Helena. Now we've got this lot flaunting their jollies all over socials too.

How disconnected and arrogant are these people?

Which presumably is why they’ve now removed them from the post 😉

We all know what a zip wire is. The company that did the Welsh Quarry is well known and documented. They over expanded and Covid hit them hard.

Way back in December there was an R4 profile programme on the founder.  Interesting guy.

They didn’t need to go to Wales, they needed to get him here and to look at possible sites and discuss opportunities.

However, we all know, even if that happens, they’ll stuff it up by putting a lease out to competitive tender ( after expressions of interest being requested in the most flowery of management speak - think Dhoon Glen Kiosk language ) with T&C that completely hobble it as an economic possibility.

The people running Dhoon Glen now seem more than happy.

Or even worse, get Longworth involved.

To get a theme park operating profitably will mean making travel costs lower than they are now. I doubt that it would be viable.

Even so, people do visit here to, for example, go walking. If you make an Internet search on "Isle of Man walks" you will get a few hits with sites showing lots of nice photos (that cost a fair bit).

But there is no map showing the practical details of which paths are closed - and I bet there are a few.

All show and no go - or all fur coat and no knickers. Typical of the gov.

Im sure they are. But are they offering a Culinary Showcase: with culinary prowess and menus featuring delectable dishes at competitive prices, enticing customers with a feast for the senses?

Or is it the anticipated sandwiches, bacon and burger baps, scones, and tea, coffee and cold pop?
