The 'ground' floor is the same level as the top of the bridge and has commercial units and car parking at the back. You'd assume they would build the new ones at a similar height. Isn’t there a basement car park?

Dirty Buggane
The main problem when lake road flooded that caused vehicles to be wrote off was raw sewage, there is a main that comes down from Pulrose and Anachoar following the path of the river along the quay and into the holding tanks at bottle neck carpark. The same as every other piece of shit in Douglas, this was back washed up through manholes along Lake Road and behind the concrete fence. Know this for a fact as seen the lids lifted by pressure as bolts were not fitted to hold them down. This was in conjunction with a hide tide virtually reversing flow of river up past what was then the boat fields where the rowing boats from the bay were kept in winter

Wasn't this all sorted by the prom pumps and the pumps up at white ho? I don't recall it happening for some considerable time. Didnt they put flap valves on the new tanks on the prom? It’s the entrance that’s always overlooked when the tanking is specified.

Dirty Buggane
how do you think the shite gets pumped, it all goes to the pumping station on prom and from there the process begins. The White Hoe is an intermediary pumping station there is no large tanks till you get to Meary-Veg.

mollag
The original holding tank is/was below the junction of Walpole Avenue and Bath place.
Gladys
What does it matter? It only really matters to those who buy, and if people are put off by the flood risk, they won't buy. No one has advanced any arguments about environmental damage (bat and bird boxes were included in the application), increased risk to neighbouring properties or even that they are unsightly. We are continually complaining about derelict brownfield sites, but when one development is approved, it's another cause for complaint. 1

Pretty sure there's still some below the strange looking building the opposite end of the bottle neck than the lemon squeezer. I remember them being built, maybe late 90's. If you look at that building it has a ventilation tower in the middle of it.
