As prepared as we can be. There is a system, and it gets rehearsed regularly. But in practice, if a plane were to crash into Douglas Prom with hundreds of casualties we wouldn’t cope, same as every other hospital. To quote Mike Tyson - Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

I’m amazed S100 wasn’t cancelled after last year’s carnage.

That last line applies to hundreds of things that happen on the island everyday, like a bus full of people pr or a building with loads of people in it.

Should the worst happen, we wouldn’t cope.

We don’t all base our lives around the possibility that might happen though.

We have visitors who have just got home from Billown.  Apparently the chat about this evening amongst those who have travelled here at great expense to watch an event that the island promoted, which  didn’t run because we aren’t suitably equipped is less than complimentary.

If it’s on closed roads your bus argument is void

Resilience is a word that seems to have been used a lot recently by politicians.

A two-car accident may involve at least people. There does not seem to be much safety margin.

should there be a number after least ?

You think?

Ok then.

So if the bus/coach carrying witnesses back from the 26th milestone incident on closed roads in 2007 had crashed it wouldn’t have been an issue?

Ok then 🙄

Your arguing against yourself RR - take a step back and realise motorcycle racing isn’t a free pass (the bus was on closed roads and ACU Insurance xxxx)

I am not talking about motorcycle racing.  I am talking about the numerous risky events that take place every day that COULD overwhelm our hospital.  In response to your reference to the smoke Tyson quote

You’re still arguing against yourself though- no idea what your word soup last sentence means either.

Hospital open for business they have Emergency and contingency plans - motorbike racing unnecessary risk to public healthcare

Sounds like the chopper is coming over to help.

Are the staffing levels that low that a 2 rider incident can close the hospital? Or just too top heavy?  The board seems to grow with every meeting.
