If Manx Care think this indecent stretches their facilities.........

Should Manx Care be calling for the cancellation of all road racing ???

18 mil over budget this year? How much for extra cover for the TT etc....?

Should Manx Care care for Manx residents or avoidable casualties????

Sounds like the chopper is coming over to help.

Are the staffing levels that low that a 2 rider incident can close the hospital? Or just too top heavy?  The board seems to grow with every meeting.

A one-rider incident can occupy the surgical team for an entire day. Not just here - I’ve worked in a leading UK trauma centre and it was the same there. And that means if anyone else needs attention their care may be compromised. What do you suggest? Carry on racing, and if someone else crashes they can wait (they may not be able to wait), or perhaps suspend racing for the evening to allow the perpetually stretched emergency services to catch up?

The size of the board is really not relevant in this situation.

The bonkers thing about tonight's incident is that it occurred during a newcomers introduction lap, the speed of which is controlled by travelling marshals. So, is it reasonable to conclude that they are not fit for purpose? Was the travelling marshal travelling too fast? I've never really seen the value of these laps personally, just seem like a box ticking exercise to look like something is being done as a nod to safety. And a handy opportunity for ex racers to thrash bikes round courses.

No, stop the road racing and let Manx Care take care of Manx residents! Without their facilities being stretched by extraneous activities???

For christs sake let someone speak out!!!

Having seen a video of the crash, I can assure you it was nothing to do with the TM. A rider at the rear of the group was going a lot faster than those ahead and crashed into them.

What is the state of play if there was a multiple vehicle accident outside of road racing events?  It has already been mentioned that a two car accident could lead to two seriously injured casualties.  What would happen if those two vehicles were full?

It is alarming if the Island only have the capacity for two trauma cases at a time.

So if there had been a two vehicle accident on the roads where would we be if the hospital is that stretched?

If they were so stretched why did the session go ahead at all?  Why, after the incident, did they then keep the roads closed for more than an hour while “reviewing the situation”

Didn't similar happen last year?

Two helicopter flights in and out since 9.30, so there’ll be enough bed space for tomorrow. I don’t see what the issue is here.

Theres only so much capacity (A&E, surgery, ITU, staffing, beds) and anyone suggesting we should have a massive increase on all of the above just in case or start tipping people out because some of those in ITU can’t be sick because Covid isn’t real, really is stupit.

Last year’s  happened when a rider didn’t see the chequered flag and continued at righ speed colliding with another who had slowed and was turning left into the paddock. This evening’s collision had a different cause.

Well, at present we're not doing very well in facilitating the motorsport that the Island is famous for.

We can't supply medical cover for potential injuries arising from racing incidents and we can't enable the running of a rally.

Doesn't auger well. What happens if there's a multiple medical situation in the Grand Fondo?
