Yes...but why the increase suddenly? The island has become that more dangerous in a year?

It pretty clear that the behaving like a bell-end threshold has increased since Covid.

the article says there was no harm to the public, yes there is, there’s ppolicemen with loaded guns walking round.

A policeman with a gun is literally zero risk to the public.

Since 2020 a total of 14 people have been killed by police in the UK.  All but four of those were shot after getting knifey or shooty themselves.  Two were hit by Police bikes/cars accidentally.  One seems to have died in custody after being brought in un-responsive.  Chris Kaba was unarmed and shot but apparently after driving at the Police.

So there is literally no chance of being shot by accident as an innocent bystander.

Much more chance of being run over by car, yet you probably don't shit yourself when you're walking next to a road.

No they don't.

It's a command decision taken by a nationally qualified senior officer, who then has to have that ratified by an even more qualified more senior officer.

If you can be bothered, you can read the following link which explains around 80% of what the deployment of armed officers entails.

https://www.college.police.uk/app/armed-policing

I think youre missing the point.

The Manx public do not want to see Robocop and Robocop 2 walking down the street like there is a terror threat

The manx public want community policing and it does not go hand in hand

But when I'm walking down the road I usually see cars.  I don't usually see police waving guns around.

I'd quite like to keep it that way.

Culture change. And for the better by all accounts. Sending the wrong asset has more potential to go wrong than sending the right one

And they get that in droves. Better than anywhere else. But as the tag line in the movie SWAT went; 'because even cops call nine one one"

Decision making right. Information and intelligence flawed.
