Weliveinhope
This news is absolutely astonishing. A Chinese boiler room, seeking a centre of excellence for their scams in a supposed well run Western jurisdiction, and even better there was to be a campus. Of course, we dont know the full facts as yet, but there are certainly questions to be asked. How many (monumental) fuck ups can this government make before we see real change. Is this a case of a lax regime, where there are no expectations from management, you are in a job for life, no matter what happens? The irony being they are happy to make life as hard as possible for established well run companies. As long as you tick those boxes everythings fine yessir, and no need to worry if the shit hits the fan we have a lot of buzzwords to feed the mugs out there and lessons will, of course, be learned.

mad_manx
I cannot understand why they relocated the scam call centre staff here?? Surely that will increase overheads. Couldn't they have done the same scam with overseas call centres and the company incorporated here.. ?? Or was it some combined financial + immigration scam?

Where can a corrupt group of dodgy dealers set up a scam centre where an influx of people would be welcome with not many questions asked? 1

Fraudsters don’t particularly get treated well by the Chinese legal system. It could well be a visit to the death van for organ harvesting: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/inside-chinese-death-van-petrified-32914359 Of note here is that this is just reporting the Chinese legal element of this situation. There has as yet been no outcome published in relation to the IOM money laundering and people trafficking investigations and the license removals. In tact those matters still remain unreported on other than that investigations are “ongoing”.
