Bit tricky to restore when it was blue screening on boot. Most people I know who had to fix it booted safe mode and renamed the Crowdstrike folder in the Windows directory. You could rename it to anything at all to fix it, but for some reason most of them chose an expletive.

Pray for those unfortunate IT managers summoned before the Board tomorrow to explain why they had added further security by using Bitlocker encryption, but then foolishly stored the unlock keys elsewhere on the same network, or on another locked computer. "Convenience is the enemy of security".

Ironically the Mercedes F 1 teams' computers were wiped out by a major sponsor!!! 😆

....but at least I now know who Crowdstrike are and what they do.

Perhaps they're not as witless as you.

You think M&S would switch to cash and pen and paper if they were off line and had no tills working?  Of course they would 😂

I think they'd be wise to have some sort of contingency planning in place, rather than be as blinkered as you.

Happened to Spar over here for a few days about 2 years ago...they resorted to pen and paper in all their shops.

What we're seeing here is clearly the Govt doctrine. "Computers are down, we can all go home".

The private sector should do the same, businesses have absolutely no right to try and use their initiative to get round a period of IT adversity.

The sad thing is there's plenty of half-wits like crazy Dave who completely fall for it.

I'll stick to APPLE. Never understood what all the talk about upgrades and patches was about.

Patches and upgrades are regularly pushed out for Apple devices... and anyway, you're still buggered if upstream systems you rely on are down

This is how crazy Dave expects or insists how we should all live. His shampoo will be on hold for a few days now.

Lol.  Technology not your thing then?

That post that was linked is pathetic.  Clearly someone who did a very poor smarthome implementation using all the cheapest stuff they could find without any real thought of keeping things simple.

Technology should be about making you home more secure, more energy efficient and easier to use.

That person has done it all wrong.

Apparently lost a Lot of customer and staff data, remember reading some former employees were taking them to court over it , but then all went quiet
