School Mobile Phone Bans

They should do it like sports traders and certain other employees have to do it: no phones at work, so you have to leave it in a little transparent phone locker at the entrance and you keep the key. That way a teacher can see instantly who hasn’t deposited their phone. You get it back at the end of the day. Needs proper enforcement which is where it will fall apart.

What are therules for this at Uni? (formerly known as University).

I doubt our politicians would go for a ban, in House of Keys and Tynwald you see  them on their phones during a boring speech or whatver.

It's bobbins. The annual  salary Is £38933 to £49753 (depending on skills & experience). Pay is pro rated to hours worked.

Its a zero hours contract.

Someone at top rate working 10 hours a day could theoretically earn £250 in a day-ish. Given that they're always off playing golf or doing up their houses, it seems highly unlikely though.

There is no top rate for supply - flat rate for all

You know how many kids are in a secondary school right?

Who the hell is going to spend their time looking at 800+ plastic lockers to see if it’s got a ‘phone in it!

I don't see why they can't just ban them in lessons. In our day there were several things banned in lessons - eating, smoking, swearing etc - all sorts of things you could do at break but not while teacher was talking.

Is that so hard?

Eating, smoking and swearing in lessons was not completely banned when I was at school, but it was only the teacher that was allowed to do them.

thats why the standard of debate is so low and so many things going through on the nod  which are regretted later and eventually have to be rectified ,

Correct. It starts with the DofE announcing the new strategy and parents telling dear Jonny to leave their device at home as they are going to school to learn and socialise, not stare into a device. The kids who do sneak their phones into school and have the cheek to get them out need them taking off them and a detention duly issued. After that it’s a suspension. They are breaking school rules. Even children have a choice.

2 of those happen regularly in a classroom. The 3rd does in the form of vaping elsewhere, although some kids have been known to sneak one in during the lesson!
