That way a teacher can see instantly who hasn’t deposited their phone. You get it back at the end of the day. I doubt our politicians would go for a ban, in House of Keys and Tynwald you see them on their phones during a boring speech or whatver. Eating, smoking and swearing in lessons was not completely banned when I was at school, but it was only the teacher that was allowed to do them. It starts with the DofE announcing the new strategy and parents telling dear Jonny to leave their device at home as they are going to school to learn and socialise, not stare into a device. The kids who do sneak their phones into school and have the cheek to get them out need them taking off them and a detention duly issued. After that it’s a suspension. They are breaking school rules.
