Utah 01
I saw the notice about this meeting and thought ' oh, they want to extend the prison or plaster the airfield with another housing estate'. Then, I saw who was attending; none other than the airport manager (I can't bring myself to use the title 'director') and Cannan himself. Why would 2 such eminent (?) wheeler-dealers drag themselves all the way to Jurby to sit in a village hall to discuss the vagaries of a planning document if aviation, in some shape or form, isn't going to be on the agenda. The glaring question is why would there be a need for a 'runway extension' for a runway that hasn't been used probably since the Winston Oliver airshow a couple of decades ago? Then it came to me in a vision. All that revenue from offshore-gas and fracking is going to be invested in a brand new airport! To make themselves look busy and bask in the self-importance?
Max Power
I can remember flights being diverted there when poor weather affected Ronaldsway, perhaps this is being considered in view of last years complete cock up? I'm not sure how this could affect motorsport activities, the ARA have been told that their lease runs out next year? Have they been told they won't be offered a new lease?

I'm not sure, but I know government departments move in peculiar ways, their reasons to deceive.

Well, I'm again unsure, but I do know that ARA are responsible for many aspects of maintaining the place, such as kerb painting etc.
WTF
Just now, Max Power said: Well, I'm again unsure, but I do know that ARA are responsible for many aspects of maintaining the place, such as kerb painting etc. they will be responsible for making sure that the parts of they airfield they use are up to a certain standard possibly set by the ACU so the race track etc is correctly marked out for safety reasons.

They can move to Ronaldsway once Jurby has been redeveloped! 1

A fool and his money.....
I think there's definitely more to this than they're letting on. Since when do the government make sound strategic decisions in case of future need? They'll already know what they want it for, you mark my words, and we'll be fed some vague bollocks.
swoopy2110
Maybe they've realised what a stupid idea it was developing an airport in an area of the Island more prone to fog. So instead of wasting anymore money on it they're going to develop Jurby into Heathrow MK II
