That two tier policing that people are bleating on about is sometimes just the Police making tactical decisions about when to intervene immediately and when to just keep watch and pick out the troublemakers later. You are not going to find many people on here saying that extremists on either side should not face punishment. If he had been hurling a brick at the time or if those protestors were in fact rioting, it would probably involve an immediate arrest. There have also been plenty of times that they haven't waded in to arrest Tommy Ten Names. If there is an immediate threat, and they have the resources, then they will react.
