KWC fees.

Recommended Posts

There are a lot of children at KWC who do not fit the state education remit, their parents "beg and borrow" to send their children there, they're the "squeezed middle", don't earn enough for it not to be a problem but also earn too much for a bursary to be their golden ticket. Don't be so mean, they deserve your consideration.

The comments about the cars make me laugh, I've got a mum bus (a Ford) you see me rollin'... with those Merc's, Audi's and Ranger Rovers, in my black Ford... We do our best for our children and if a state education isn't working, KWC is the only other option, I did homeschool one to the end of primary, but I know naff all about secondary education techniques or the complexity of learning and the intricacy of the high school curriculum.

I hope KWC weathers the storm and will still be around to offer an alternative. Where else would you like to see the grants going?

“The squeezed middle” raises many questions, essentially it implies trying to social climb if I understand your point.

When you say state education isn’t working- is that the whole system from 4 - 18 or just the schools you encountered.

Did you try other state schools ?

Or did you lump them all together in the same pot with no research and go KWC is better ?

To choose a paid a option if you haven’t explored the alternative state schools as a minimum raises a question or two.

Well my children went to state primary schools but when we looked at the secondary schools, 4 in total they just weren’t up to scratch , overcrowding, poor after school activities, Arts and drama etc. KWC does offer a far superior overall education, loads of activities, both got very high grades and Universities of their choice.

I'd expect nothing less for up to £25,000 per year per child.

If the Manx government had any imagination or planning (yeah, I know it's a big ask), they would look at the Irish model for private schools. In short, the money the government allocates for a child to attend a state school is used to as a subsidy for any child that goes to a private school. Hence private schools are considerably more affordable for the 'squeezed middle', and some pressure is taken off class sizes for state schools.

I'd certainly send both of my boys to KWC if the fees were comparable to the below:
